Soft Tissue Therapy
£30 [30min] or £45 [50min]
Whether you’re recovering from intense training, an injury, or are seeking relief from chronic tension, this treatment will help by addressing the soft tissue relating to your problem area.
I’ll use a mix of gentle stretching, firmer sports massage based techniques and lighter soft tissue manipulation depending on your muscles’ needs. Whichever techniques used, the aim is always to alleviate muscle tension, restore range of motion, and help reduce any swelling.
We'll also go over some rehab; changes you could make to your technique & a few things you can do at home to help the healing process.

I don’t call this treatment ‘Sports massage'‘ because I won’t necessarily be using the deep pressure associated with it.
Although a firm pressure is good in some situations, like chronic knots, I’ve found that tense fibres often relax better with a lighter touch - to reduce tension you want to get the fibres to unravel and relax; deep work that sometimes makes you wince a bit can cause your fibres to tense in protection.
In cases of acute injuries with swelling, you can boost healing by flushing away all the toxins sitting around the area; this can be achieved with even lighter lymphatic massage based strokes.
Because I saw results when using different blends of these methods during treatments, I decided to swap the name of the session from ‘Sports Massage’ to ‘Soft Tissue Therapy’ as I think this better encompasses what I do.

When you enter the treatment room, we'll have a little discussion about where your injury is, what movements in particular aggravate it, your expectations for the treatment, and then a game plan for the session.
The amount of areas we can address depends on your session length (30min/ 50min), but please note that it will likely only be one focused area; for instance the muscles associated with shin splints or tension headaches.
If you're injury is an upper body one, I'll ask you to remove your top (keeping your bra on), and if it's lower body then I'll get you to remove your trousers & socks (pants on).
At the end of the treatment, we'll have a chat about rehab - if there's any changes you could make to your technique/ a few things you can do at home to help your bodies healing process.
If applicable, please make sure to arrive in a bra with a clasp at the back and straps that you can slip off your shoulders.

If you can't have massage due to medical reasons, you're likely already aware from your doctors' advice.
However, for those unsure, I may not be able to treat you if you have any of the following; DVT, open wounds, certain skin conditions (e.g. severe eczema with open wounds/ warts), heart problems, or recent operations/ broken bones/ severe injuries.

You may experience some light headedness or tiredness post treatment, so make sure to stay hydrated.
I don't use extreme pressure, so there shouldn't be any injury, but it's common for tender areas to become more inflamed after agitation from massage, so please be aware of that.

Make sure you arrive in clothes that are comfortable and convenient for you to remove. Also (if this applies to you & your injury involves neck/ back/ shoulders) ensure that you wear a bra with a clasp at the back, & straps that you can slip off your arms.
Please arrive with clean skin (i.e. not fresh from the gym).
Have a bottle of water in your car to drink post-treatment, and if you're prone to light-headedness, you might want to bring a snack with you too.
